> OL WM 2003 > News > Medals The medals for OL WM 2003 have arrived!During these days the most important of all parcels has arrived at the secretariat of the OL WM 2003 in Wetzikon. The International Orienteering Federation let produce twelve gold, twelve silver and twelve bronze medals (plus six reserve medals for dead heats) and sent them from the head office in Helsinki to Switzerland. Together with a lot of other material for OL WM 2003 these objects of desire now rest safely kept in the office of the secretary Marianne Bandixen and are waiting for their owners. Stately 200 grams in weight and 7 centimeters in diameter characterize the highest decoration that an orienteer on Earth can win: the gold medal. Whereas the subjects on the face and the reverse have a tradition since the first World Orienteering Championships in 1966, the organizer is free to choose the ribbon of the medal. The decision, however, has already been taken. The ribbon is of red primary color and is riddled with small white Swiss crosses. The Swiss medallists will like that. And the foreign ones?
