> OL WM 2003 > Participants > Team Sweden How the Swedes will start at the OL WM 2003Similar to the Swiss team the Swedish coach puts his bet in the single races on specialists. The quota of totally seven participants each in maximum will be completely utilized. None of the Swedes, which are all WM freshmen except Jörgen Olsson, is foreseen to participate in more than two races. The eye-catching feature is the emphasis on the relay – another analogy to the Swiss team. In the Swidish team only “fresh” people are listed. They will either have their first stake at the WM, like Matthias Karlsson, or they will skip the middle-distance race in order to enjoy two rest days before the relay. The situation is somehow different for the women’s team. The team coach Marita Skogum, as her Swiss counterpart Irène Müller, did not completely use the quota. None of the Swish top runners, however, are foreseen to go on a marathon-like mission as the Swiss long-distance titleholder Simone Luder will have to when starting at all four events. Jenny Johansson and Gunilla Svärd, the European champion over the middle distance, will compete in three races each. Karolina A. Höjsgaard will have two stakes. All the others, Anette Granstedt among them too during her sixth consecutive WM, will start just once. The assignments of the Swedish team:
